Mark Hodder is a British author who has made a name for himself in the fields of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. He is best known for his Burton & Swinburne Adventures series. Prior to his career as an author, Hodder worked in various forms of media as a BBC journalist and web producer. He has a degree in cultural studies and has a deep appreciation for British history, particularly the period between 1850 and 1950. In addition to his love of history, Hodder enjoys good food, cutting-edge gadgets, and cult TV. After spending most of his working life in London, Hodder now resides in Valencia, Spain, where he can write without the stress of city life.
Hodder was born in England and later moved to Spain in 2008. He is a prominent figure in the steampunk genre, a subgenre of science fiction that focuses on the inventions and aesthetic of the nineteenth century, with a particular emphasis on steam-driven technology. Steampunk fiction often features post-apocalyptic worlds where steam-based machinery dominates, or it may be set in a punked-up version of the nineteenth-century past. Hodder's work is known for its unique blend of historical detail, imaginative world-building, and engaging storytelling.
Becoming the father of twins significantly slowed down Hodder's writing pace for three years. However, he is now happy to report that his writing is back to its former pace, and he is currently working on the final edit of a new science fiction novel, which is the first in what he hopes will be a massive new series.
