Martin Jensen is a bestselling Danish author known for his historical fiction and crime novels. He gained international recognition with "The King’s Hounds," the first installment of his acclaimed series, which marked his English-language debut. Jensen has authored twenty-one novels, including historical works such as "Soldiers’ Whore," "The Carpenter’s Daughter," and "Raven Flight," as well as five contemporary novels. His medieval series about bailiff Eske Litle and Assens spans seven volumes and earned him accolades from the Danish Crime Academy.
Born in 1946, Jensen worked as a teacher and headmaster in Sweden and Denmark before transitioning to a full-time writing career in 1996. His meticulous research and immersive storytelling have established him as a prominent figure in Scandinavian historical fiction. In 2009, he received the Edvard Pedersen Library Fund’s Author Prize and the Danish Crime Academy’s Honorary Award for his contributions to the genre.
