Martin Riker is the author of the acclaimed novel "Samuel Johnson's Eternal Return" (2018), which received widespread praise from publications including the New Yorker, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. His forthcoming novel, "The Guest Lecture," is set for publication by Grove in 2023. As a literary critic, Riker has contributed essays and reviews on contemporary fiction and translated literature to prominent outlets such as the New York Times Book Review, the London Review of Books, and The Guardian.
Beyond his writing, Riker has played a significant role in the literary world as an editor and publisher. He served as Associate Director of Dalkey Archive Press for nearly a decade and edited periodicals such as The Review of Contemporary Fiction and CONTEXT. In 2010, he co-founded Dorothy, a feminist publishing house, alongside his wife, Danielle Dutton. Dorothy has gained international recognition for its commitment to innovative literature, publishing works by Marguerite Duras and Leonora Carrington while also championing emerging voices like Nell Zink and Azareen Van der Vliet Oloomi.
