Marty Wingate

Marty Wingate is an accomplished American author, known for her cozy mystery novels and non-fiction books. She has written several successful novel series, including the Potting Shed Mysteries and Birds of a Feather Mysteries. Wingate's love of gardening is evident in her writing, as many of her characters have professions in the field. In addition to her work as an author, Wingate is also a well-known speaker on topics related to traveling and gardening. She has written articles for various publications such as Fine Gardening, American Gardener, Country Gardens, and Gardening How-to.

Wingate's Potting Shed Mysteries follow the life of Pru Parke, a middle-aged American woman and gardener who moves to England in search of a more prosperous career. However, she finds herself in the midst of murderous plots and troubles, which makes for an exciting series. Wingate has completed a total of three books in this series and is still working on the next installments. Another cozy mystery series written by Wingate is A Bird of a Feather, which consists of just two books, but more are in the works.

In addition to her mystery novels, Wingate also writes historical fiction. Her book, Glamour Girls, is set against the backdrop of the Second World War in England and follows the story of Rosalie Wright as she goes from farm girl to Spitfire pilot. Wingate's ability to write across different genres is a testament to her talent as an author.

Wingate's research for her novels includes traveling to England and Scotland, where she traces the steps of her characters, stops for tea and a slice of Victoria sponge in a café, or enjoys a swift half in a pub. She takes her research seriously, which is evident in the richness and depth of her writing. Wingate is a member of various professional organizations, including Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, and the Crime Writers Association (Britain). She lives with her husband and two cats near Seattle, with her local library standing in for a more colorful writing venue.
