Martyn Waites

Martyn Waites is a distinguished author and actor from the United Kingdom, recognized for his contribution to the mystery, thriller, and suspense genres. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1963, Waites was raised in his hometown and pursued a variety of jobs during his post-university years, including selling leather coats, doing stand-up comedy, and waiting tables in pubs. His passion for performing led him to attend drama school and eventually perform in theaters all over England.\n \n Waites' writing career took off in the 1990s when he began working on his first novel, a noir mystery set in his birth city. His debut novel, "Mary's Prayer," was published in 1997, and he followed it with three more novels featuring the same character, an investigative journalist named Stephen Larkin. Since then, Waites has continued to divide his time between acting and writing, creating another journalist, troubled reporter Joe Donovan, who made his first appearance in "The Mercy Seat" (2006). Waites' most recent novel is "Speak No Evil" (2009).

Waites' work is highly acclaimed, and he has written several popular book series, including the Stephen Larkin series, Tom Killgannon series, and Joe Donovan series. In addition to his fiction works, Waites has also collaborated with other authors to produce a nonfiction book called "Great Lost Albums."
