Mary Pauline Lowry

Mary Pauline Lowry is an accomplished English fiction author, known for her novels "The Roxy Letters," "Wildfire," and "The Earthquake Machine." She was born in Austin, Texas, and has contributed to various publications, including Oprah magazine, The New York Times, and The Millions. Lowry is currently residing in Boise, Idaho, with her husband, George.

Before her writing career, Lowry worked as a forest firefighter for two years on the elite Pike Interagency Hotshot Crew based in Colorado. This experience taught her valuable skills and provided her with unique insights into the world of wildland firefighting. As a Hotshot, she traveled throughout the American West, fighting fires and digging firelines to deprive blazes of fuel. This physically demanding job required her to work for 15 hours or more a day during fire season, often camping out for 21 days at a time.

After leaving the Hotshot crew, Lowry decided to pursue graduate studies and received an M.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently writing for outlets such as xoJane and the Huffington Post. Among her dreams is the desire to ride a sled pulled by a group of joyful dachshunds. Lowry continues to create engaging stories for her target audience while residing in Boise, drawing inspiration from her diverse life experiences.
