She was born in Southern California and now resides in Utah with her family.

Maureen's writing career took off when her children were small, providing her a way to stay busy, build a career, and take care of her children at the same time. Her works are known for their thrilling and humorous elements, as well as their strong romantic storylines. Over the years, Maureen has written under several different pseudonyms, including Ann Carberry, Regan Hastings, and Kathleen Kane. She uses the name Kane for her historical and paranormal romances.
