Maureen Johnson

Maureen Johnson is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for her work in young adult fiction. She has written several popular book series, including "13 Little Blue Envelopes," "Shades of London," and "Truly Devious". Her writing has been praised for its excellence, with her book "The Name of the Star" earning a nomination for an Edgar Award in the Young Adult fiction category.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Johnson attended an all-girl Catholic high school and went on to graduate from the University of Delaware. Before and during her graduate studies, she gained a wide range of experiences by working in various cities, including New York City and Philadelphia, London. She held a variety of jobs, including manager of the Philadelphia Theater Company, bartender in Piccadilly, secretary, waitress in a theme restaurant, and seasonal performer. Johnson further honed her writing skills by studying theatrical dramatics and writing at Columbia University, where she earned her MFA in Writing.
