Maxwell Grant

Maxwell Grant is a well-known pseudonym in the world of pulp fiction, having been used by the talented writer and magician, Walter Brown Gibson. Grant was the chosen pen name for the writer when he began working on the first novel in The Shadow series, published by Street & Smith. The use of a pseudonym allowed the publishers to hire multiple authors to write for the series without confusing readers, as well as giving them the freedom to explore different writing styles and voices.

At the time when Gibson was approached by Street & Smith, he was primarily known for his nonfiction work. This made the use of a pseudonym all the more necessary, as it allowed him to explore a new genre and establish a distinct identity for his fiction writing. Despite the use of a pen name, Gibson's talent for storytelling and his unique voice quickly made The Shadow series a success, with readers eagerly awaiting each new installment.

Walter Brown Gibson, the man behind the pseudonym Maxwell Grant, was a prolific writer and an accomplished magician. Although he passed away in 1985, his legacy as a writer and storyteller lives on through his work, and the pseudonym Maxwell Grant remains a respected and well-known name in the world of pulp fiction.
