Megan Whalen Turner

Megan Whalen Turner is a highly acclaimed American author, best known for her series of young adult fantasy novels. Although the series does not have an official title, it is often referred to as the Attolia series, The Queen's Thief, or the Thief of Eddis series. Turner earned her Bachelor of Arts with honors in English language and literature from the University of Chicago.

Turner's writing career took off in 1995 with the publication of her collection of short stories titled "Instead of Three Wishes". The following year, she released her first novel, "The Thief", which became the first book in the award-winning Queen's Thief series. The series has gained significant popularity, with the first book winning a Newbery Honor Prize. The main character of the series is Eugenides, and the series is often named after the various queens and countries featured in the novels.

In addition to the Queen's Thief series, Turner has also written and published a short story collection. She began her writing career after working as a bookseller for seven to eight years. Turner is known for her love of traveling, which is reflected in her writing as she often uses the landscapes of the places she visits as backgrounds for her stories. She has been married to cognitive scientist Mark Turner since her college years, and they have three sons together. The couple has lived in various places, including Oslo, Norway, and Ohio, where Mark currently works as a professor at Case Western University. Turner maintains contact with her fans and readers through her email and enjoys answering their questions, although she prefers to keep her personal life private.
