Melanie Lageschulte is an accomplished American author, best known for her work in the genres of chick-lit and literary fiction. She is a native of Iowa and spent much of her childhood on a farm in the northern part of the state. Growing up in a rural setting, Lageschulte developed a deep appreciation for the natural world and the beauty of the countryside, which would later become a source of inspiration for her writing.
Before turning to fiction, Lageschulte spent many years as a reporter and editor for The Des Moines Register, where she honed her storytelling skills and gained a deep understanding of the people and culture of Iowa. She began her career at the newspaper as an obituary writer, a role that taught her the importance of conveying the essence of a person's life in a brief and meaningful way. Over the years, she worked her way up to becoming a features reporter and then an editor, where she had the opportunity to tell the stories of Iowans from all walks of life.
In 2014, Lageschulte found herself out of a job and in need of a new creative outlet. She turned to fiction writing as a way to keep her sanity and give her creativity an outlet. Her efforts paid off when she published her debut novel, "Growing Season," in 2017. The novel was the first in a bestselling series that would come to be known as the "Season" series. In addition to her work on the "Season" series, Lageschulte has also published a novella, "A Tin Train Christmas," and another series, "Mailbox Mysteries."
Lageschulte holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in American history from the University of Iowa. She is an animal lover and enjoys supporting local animal shelters in her spare time. She currently lives in Iowa and continues to write heartwarming, rural-fiction series.
