Mi-ae Seo

Mi-ae Seo is a renowned author from Seoul, South Korea. She gained significant recognition in the English-speaking world with the publication of her debut novel, "The Only Child." Seo's love for mystery novels began at a young age, and she spent much of her childhood devouring any mystery books she could find in her library and at home. Her passion for writing was already evident during her college years, where she began by writing poetry and eventually moved on to fiction.

Seo's professional writing career started after she graduated from college, working as a screenplay and broadcasting writer. During this time, she continued to write mystery novels, but chose to publish them as short stories. Between 1994 and 2005, Seo decided to focus primarily on screenplays, but she never abandoned her love for fiction. In 2000, she wrote "My Beautiful Girl, Mary," a Korean animation that won the Best Feature Fil Grand Prix Award at the 26th Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

Seo's play "30 Ways To Kill Your Husband" was published in 2006 and won the Annual Spring Literary Contest, becoming a bestseller in South Korea. Several of her short fiction works have been adapted into movies and TV dramas, showcasing her versatility as a writer. In addition to her work as an author, Seo is also a screenplay writer, with numerous filmed works to her name. The rights to "The Only Child" have been sold for adaptation as well, further solidifying her status as a successful writer in the industry.
