Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly is a renowned American author, celebrated for his detective novels featuring the LAPD detective Harry Bosch. Connelly became interested in writing after discovering the books of Raymond Chandler while attending the University of Florida. He pursued this interest by choosing a major in journalism and a minor in creative writing. After graduating in 1980, he worked as a newspaper reporter in Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, primarily covering the crime beat. His journalistic career reached a significant milestone when he, along with two other reporters, wrote a magazine story about a major airline crash, which was shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing.

Connelly's literary career took off with the publication of his first novel, 'The Black Echo' in 1992, which was based in part on a true crime that had occurred in Los Angeles and introduced the character of Hieronymus Bosch. The novel won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel by the Mystery Writers of America. Since then, Connelly has written over thirty novels, with over eighty million copies sold worldwide and translated into forty-five foreign languages. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Edgar Award, Anthony Award, Macavity Award, and the Los Angeles Times Best Mystery/Thriller Award. In addition to his literary work, Connelly is a producer and writer for the TV show, "Bosch," which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. He lives with his family in Los Angeles and Tampa, Florida.
