Michael G. Manning is a distinguished American author, well-known for his works in the genres of high fantasy, science fiction, horror, epic fantasy, and fiction. Hailing from Huntsville, Texas, Manning also works as a pharmacist. Some of his most popular book series include the Magehorn series, Champions of Dawning Dragons series, Riven Gates series, and Embers of Illeniel series. Manning was born and raised in Cleveland, Texas, where he developed a passion for reading science fiction and fantasy stories during his formative years. He often preferred indulging in experiments in his backyard and avoiding schoolwork.
After completing his school education, Manning attended Sam Houston State University, where he discovered a newfound love for beer and became engrossed in role-playing games. His family refers to his first year at college as 'the lost year', while Manning considers it 'his best year ever'. Following several years of working odd jobs and pursuing college once more, Manning earned a degree in pharmacy from the University of Houston Honors program. Despite obtaining a pharmacy license, Manning found that his free-spirited nature was not conducive to the meticulous and law-abiding career of a pharmacist. After working as a hospital pharmacy manager and later in correctional managed care for the State of Texas, Manning grew restless and decided to try his hand at writing.
