Michael Jecks is a renowned English author, best known for his historical mystery novels and stories. Born in the south of England, Jecks was destined to follow in his father's footsteps and become an actuary. However, his interest in literature and his natural talent for storytelling led him down a different path. After a series of jobs in the computer industry, Jecks decided to pursue a career in writing full-time in 1994.
Jecks is perhaps best known for his Knights Templar Mysteries series, which explores actual events and murders committed during the early fourteenth century. The series offers a fascinating glimpse into a time of treachery, civil war, deceit, and corruption. Famine, war, and disease were rampant, yet the people displayed remarkable resilience. In addition to his Templar series, Jecks has also completed the Vintener Trilogy, several stories in his Bloody Mary series, and a new Crusades story set in 1096. His books have won him international acclaim and have been translated into multiple languages.
In addition to his work as a novelist, Jecks is also a popular speaker at literary festivals and historical meetings. He has served as the Chairman of the Crime Writers' Association and has organised the CWA Debut Dagger competition for two years. Jecks has also judged the CWA/Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award for three years. He is a member of the Society of Authors and the Royal Literary Society, as well as the Detection Club. Jecks enjoys walking, painting, shooting, and homebrewing, and can often be found researching the very same areas that his novels take place in.
