Michael Scott

Michael Scott is an Irish author born on September 28, 1959, in Dublin, Ireland. He is renowned for his contributions to literature through novels based on fantasy, horror, and young adult genres. Scott has also used a pen name for writing romance and science fiction novels. He has been writing professionally for over 25 years, during which he has published at least one book annually. With more than 100 titles to his name, Scott is one of the most prolific and successful authors in Ireland, with his works published in over 38 countries and translated into more than 20 languages. \n \nScott's most famous work, "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel," has been optioned for film. His writing career began in the mid-1980s, when he sparked a resurgence of interest in Irish subjects. Scott's novels have been included in the most-quoted and definitive works related to Irish folklore, myths, and legends. He is an authority on Celtic lands' folklore and owns a vast collection of Irish Folk and Fairy Tales, Irish Ghosts and Hauntings, and Irish Myths and Legends. \n \nMichael Scott's writing routine involves working on two computer screens, with the story on one screen and notes and research on the other. He writes every day, often working long into the night when the conscious side of the brain shuts down and the unconscious takes over. Scott has stated that the secret to writing is a comfortable chair because writers spend a lot of time sitting in it. Apart from writing, Scott also works part-time at Bakka, one of Toronto's largest independent bookstores. He is married and lives in Carlisle with his wife, Joanne. Scott's books have been translated into 27 languages, and his series has been adapted into a major TV series. \n \nIn addition to writing novels, Scott has also edited several anthologies on Irish folklore. He has written for adults, young adults, and children. Scott's love for Irish folklore and mythology is evident in his writing, which reflects his deep understanding and appreciation for the subject matter. His work has been praised for his "unparalleled contribution to children's literature" and has earned him a place in the 2006 edition of Who's Who in Ireland as one of the 1000 most significant Irish people.
