Michael Wiley

Michael Wiley is an accomplished American author, well-known for his works in the mystery and thriller genres. He has written several series and standalone novels that have earned him a reputation as a master of the genre. Wiley's works include the Franky Dast Mystery series, the hard-boiled detective Joe Kozmarski mystery series, and the Daniel Turner series of thrillers. His Kozmarski series earned him a Shamus Award for Best Hardback for the book "A Bad Night's Sleep."

Wiley's debut novel, "The Last Striptease," was released in 2007 and went on to win multiple awards, including the best first private eye novel by the Private Eye Writers of America and St. Martin's Press. His short stories frequently appear in magazines and anthologies, including "Best Mystery Stories of the Year 2022."

Michael Wiley grew up in Chicago and lived and worked in the neighborhoods and on the streets where he sets his Kelson and Kozmarski mysteries. He currently teaches literature at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, which serves as the setting for some of his works, including "The Long Way Out," an earlier Franky Dast novel, and the Daniel Turner novels. Wiley's most recent novel is the Shamus Award-nominated "Head Case," the third book in a series featuring the deeply disinhibited Chicago PI Sam Kelson. He also writes the Daniel Turner Thriller series and the Shamus Award-winning Joe Kozmarski Private Detective series. In addition to his fiction works, Wiley is also a frequent book reviewer and an occasional writer of journalism, critical books, and essays.
