Michael X. Wang is an award-winning author known for his fiction exploring themes of displacement and cultural identity. His debut short story collection, "Further News of Defeat," won the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize and the Great Lakes Colleges Association's New Writer Award, while also being named a finalist for the CLMP Firecracker Award. His work has appeared in literary journals such as New England Review, Greensboro Review, and Witness, with several stories earning recognition, including an AWP Intro Award and a notable mention in the Best American Anthology series. His novel, "Lost in the Long March," was published in 2022 by The Overlook Press.
Born in Fenyang, China, Wang immigrated to the United States at age six and has lived in numerous cities across the country. He holds an MFA in Fiction from Purdue University and a PhD in Literature from Florida State University. His writing often reflects his transnational experiences, blending historical and contemporary narratives. Currently residing in Arkansas with his family, Wang is working on two new novel projects.
