Michaela Carter is a highly accomplished historical fiction author, as well as an award-winning poet and painter. Her love for the arts shines through in her writing, which has been recognized with numerous accolades.
Carter earned her undergraduate degree in theater at UCLA and later went on to receive her MFA in creative writing. Her poetry has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes, and she has won the Poetry Society of America Los Angeles New Poets Contest. Her work has been featured in various journals, showcasing her talent and versatility as a writer. In addition to her writing, Carter has also made a name for herself in the visual arts as a painter.
In recent years, Carter has turned her attention to the world of bookselling, co-founding the Peregrine Book Company, an independent bookstore in Prescott, Arizona. As a book buyer and storyteller for the store, she continues to share her passion for literature with her community. Carter currently resides in Prescott with her two children, where she also teaches creative writing at Yavapai College. Her dedication to the arts and education is evident in her many pursuits and contributions.
