Michelle Ruiz Keil

Michelle Ruiz Keil is a talented author and tarot reader who has a keen eye for the magical and a special connection with animals. She was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and currently resides in Portland, Oregon with her family in a cottage that is nestled where the forest meets the city. Ruiz Keil is known for her critically acclaimed debut novel, "All of Us With Wings," which was released in 2019 by Soho Teen. The novel, which has been described as a "transcendent journey" by the New York Times and a "fantastical ode to the Golden City's post-punk era" by Entertainment Weekly, has received much acclaim and recognition in the literary world.

In addition to her work as an author, Ruiz Keil is also a fellow at the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and Lit Camp. She is a member of Las Musas, a collective of Latinx kidlit authors, and has been honored as a 2020 Literary Lions recipient. Ruiz Keil has also been awarded a 2020 Hedgebrook residency, which will provide her with the time and space to focus on her writing. Her short fiction has been published on Cosmonauts Avenue and in the anthologies "Color Outside The Lines" and "Dispatches From Anarres."

Ruiz Keil also curates the fairytale reading series "All Kinds of Fur," which is held in Portland, Oregon. She teaches writing with a focus on divination, fairy tale, and archetype, and has been a fellow at the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and Lit Camp. Her work is deeply rooted in the fantastical and the magical, and she has a unique ability to weave together stories that are both captivating and thought-provoking. Ruiz Keil's second novel is set to be published by Soho Press in 2021.
