After serving twenty-two years and retiring as a captain, she transitioned to writing full-time, crafting the Agatha-nominated Mer Cavallo mystery series. Under the pen name M.E. Browning, she also writes the Jo Wyatt Mysteries, with the debut novel, "Shadow Ridge," earning the Colorado Book Award for Mystery and a silver medal in the Florida Book Awards. Her work spans novels, short stories, and nonfiction, appearing in anthologies, diving and mystery magazines, and textbooks.
