Mike Guardia is an internationally recognized military historian and author, best known for his work on combat diaries and the lives of military leaders. A veteran of the United States Army, Guardia served for six years on active duty as an Armor Officer. His military experience has provided him with a unique insight into the subjects he writes about, giving his work an added layer of authenticity and depth.
Guardia's book, "Hal Moore: A Soldier Once...and Always," is a critically acclaimed biography of LTG Harold G. Moore, whose battlefield leadership was popularized by the film "We Were Soldiers," starring Mel Gibson. The book is the first-ever biography chronicling Moore's life and has earned Guardia two nominations for the Army Historical Foundation's Distinguished Book Award. In 2021, he was named Author of the Year by the Military Writers Society of America. Guardia's expertise in military history and leadership has also led to his recognition as a sought-after speaker, hosting the lecture series "Hal Moore: Lessons in Leadership," which he presents at schools, businesses, and civic organizations worldwide.
In addition to his work as an author and speaker, Guardia has also appeared in various media outlets, including National Public Radio (NPR); Frontlines of Freedom; Armada International; and Military Network Radio. He has been featured in the History Channel series, I WAS THERE, as a featured historian in the episodes on the Johnstown Flood of 1889; the Chernobyl Disaster; the Battle of Stalingrad; and the Oklahoma City Bombing. Guardia's work has been reviewed in several publications, including the Washington Times, Military Review, Armchair General, Vietnam Magazine, DefenceWeb South Africa, and Soldier Magazine UK. He holds a BA and MA in American History from the University of Houston and currently resides in Texas.
