Pamela Clare is a USA Today best-selling author, known for her historical romance and romantic suspense novels. Born in California, she discovered her love for fiction at a young age, starting with "Misty of Chincoteague" when she was nine. By the time she was twelve, she had read most of Marguerite Henry's novels and moved on to other works from Nancy Drew, Ayn Rand, CS Lewis, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and JRR Tolkien. As a fifteen-year-old, she discovered romance novels through Kathleen Woodiwiss' "The Flame and the Flower" and became captivated by the love, passion, and bravery found in the genre.
Before becoming a full-time author, Clare pursued a career in journalism, starting as a columnist and investigative reporter, and eventually becoming the first woman editor-in-chief of two different newspapers. During her time as a journalist, she and her team won numerous state and national honors, including the First Amendment Award, the National Journalism Award for Public Service, and the Keeper of the Flame Lifetime Achievement Award. Clare's background in journalism and her passion for history have greatly influenced her writing. She studied archaeology in college and has traveled extensively, including living for almost three years in Denmark, which she considers a second home.
As a successful author, Clare has written historical romance, contemporary romantic suspense, and contemporary romance, set against the backdrop of Colorado's beautiful Rocky Mountains. She is a two-time RITA finalist and a three-time Daphne du Maurier finalist for her I-Team series. Clare is a single mother with two grown sons and three grandchildren, and she continues to write passionately, drawing inspiration from her life experiences and her love for history.
