Patience Griffin is an award-winning author who has been writing and sewing her whole life. She grew up in a small town along the Mississippi River, where she experienced close-knit community living. Griffin holds a Master's degree in nuclear engineering, showcasing her intellectual side, but she also enjoys reading books that make her laugh.
Griffin discovered her love of quilting in her late thirties and decided to make her first quilt for herself. Around the same time, she began a three and a half hour daily commute for her dream engineering job. To pass the time during her long drives, she became hooked on audiobooks, particularly those with love stories. This led her to start writing her own stories within a couple of years. Her diverse life experiences, including her small-town roots, love of quilting, and fascination with Scottish romances, are all reflected in her novels.
Griffin's work has gained recognition, and her September 11th Story Quilt has toured the country as a part of the Pentagon's collection. Her literary achievements include her first book, "To Scotland with Love," which received a starred review from Publishers Weekly and won the New England Readers' Choice award. It was also a double RITA® finalist and won the Golden Quill for best first book. Her Kilts and Quilts series, set in small-town Scotland and centered around a group of quilters, is close to her heart as she loves to write about themes of home, heart, and community.
