Patricia Bracewell is a historical fiction author who was born and raised in Los Angeles. Her love for stories and historical England began at a young age, as she spent much of her childhood on her parents’ sofa reading novels set in medieval England. This interest carried on with her as she pursued her college education, where she studied English literature and became involved in campus theater productions. Bracewell also had a variety of other experiences during her college years, including singing in a small band, working in a bookstore, and traveling to Switzerland and Great Britain.
Bracewell’s passion for historical England and storytelling eventually led her to write her own novels. Her first novel, Shadow on the Crown, about the 11th century queen of England, Emma of Normandy, was published in 2013. The sequel, The Price of Blood, followed in 2015. Bracewell’s writing career has been dedicated to researching and shedding light on lesser-known figures in British history, with her Emma of Normandy Trilogy serving as a prime example. The final book of the trilogy, The Steel Beneath the Silk, was published in March 2021.
