Patricia Briggs

Patricia Briggs is a successful American author, well-known for her work in the fantasy genre, and more specifically, urban fantasy. She was born in 1965 in Butte, Montana, and grew up surrounded by books, thanks to her children's librarian mother who instilled in her a love for reading from a young age. Horses and folklore were among Patricia's early interests, and these themes would later surface in her writing.

After graduating from Montana State University with degrees in history and German, Patricia worked as a substitute teacher. It was during this time that she decided to try her hand at writing a book, and with her background in folklore and history, a fantasy novel seemed like a natural choice. She began her writing career in 1993 and has since become a New York Times bestselling author, with her Mercy Thompson series gaining significant popularity.

In addition to the Mercy Thompson series, Patricia has written other series, including the Sianim series and the Alpha & Omega series. She started writing urban fantasy at her editor's request, as the genre was gaining traction. Currently, Patricia lives in Montana with her husband, children, and six horses, where she writes full-time, much to the delight of her many fans.
