Patrick Hicks is the author of over ten books, including the critically acclaimed novel "The Commandant of Lubizec," published by Steerforth/Random House, as well as "The Collector of Names," "Adoptable," and "This London." His work spans multiple genres, from fiction to poetry, and has appeared in prestigious publications such as Ploughshares, Glimmer Train, The Missouri Review, and The Georgia Review. Recognized for his literary contributions, Hicks has been nominated seven times for the Pushcart Prize and was a finalist for several awards, including the High Plains Book Award and the Gival Press Novel Award. His poetry has been featured on NPR, The PBS NewsHour, and American Life in Poetry.
A recipient of the Glimmer Train Fiction Award, Hicks has also earned grants and fellowships from organizations such as the Bush Artist Foundation, the South Dakota Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. His debut novel was selected as a Top Pick for First Year College Programs and was among only 20 books chosen for National Reading Group Month. Hicks, a dual citizen of Ireland and the United States, serves as Writer-in-Residence at Augustana University and teaches in the MFA program at Sierra Nevada College. Having lived in Northern Ireland, England, Germany, and Spain, he now resides in the American Midwest, where he enjoys time with his family.
