Patrick Larkin is an American author, best known for his thrillers and military fiction novels. He has often collaborated with Larry Bond, but in recent years, Larkin has focused on writing historical fiction novels on his own. This shift in focus can be traced back to his lifelong passion for history, particularly military history, which began when he was just a three-year-old child.
Larkin's fascination with history was sparked by a collection of illustrated stories about great battles from history. This interest was further nurtured as he grew older, leading him to study English at the University of Chicago. After graduating, Larkin worked in Washington D.C. as a researcher for a committee of the House of Representatives. He then moved on to work as a political and corporate speechwriter, during which time he also wrote adventures for a Star Trek role-playing game and created the background history for Battletech.
In 1985, Larkin met Larry Bond while Bond was working with Tom Clancy on their book Red Storm Rising. Larkin and Bond began collaborating in 1987, and their first book, Red Phoenix, became a New York Times bestseller upon its release in 1989. Emboldened by this success, Larkin left speechwriting behind to become a full-time novelist. Over the next nine years, the pair wrote four more novels together.
In addition to his collaborative work with Bond, Larkin has also written several novels on his own. His first solo novel, The Tribune, was the first in a series of Roman-era thrillers featuring Lucius Aurelius Valens. The Tribune, which blends action, adventure, history, romance, and a hint of the supernatural, was released as an eBook through Amazon. Larkin has also written two contemporary thrillers in Robert Ludlum's Covert-One series, The Lazarus Vendetta and The Moscow Vector. These novels, which are available in bookstores now, offer readers a thrilling mix of international intrigue, cutting-edge science, and spine-tingling action.
