Paul Murray Kendall

Paul Murray Kendall was an American historian and academic known for his scholarly works on medieval English history. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Virginia before completing his Ph.D. there in 1939. Kendall spent the majority of his career as a professor at Ohio University, where he taught from 1937 until his retirement in 1970.

Kendall specialized in biographical studies of prominent historical figures, particularly from the Wars of the Roses period. His meticulous research and engaging narrative style brought historical subjects to life for both academic and general audiences. After retiring from Ohio University, he served as head of the Shakespeare Institute at the University of Kansas, further demonstrating his expertise in English history and literature.
