Paul Zunckel is a thriller and horror fiction author from South Africa, best known for his "Blood Trilogy." He was born in Zimbabwe in 1957, when it was still named Rhodesia, and moved to South Africa with his family in 1966. After completing high school at Kingsway Senior High School in Amanzimtoti, Zunckel served in the South African Defense Force as an Ops Medic, following his desire to study medicine. However, life had different plans for him, and he ended up working in Air Traffic Control for over two decades and in management for more than twenty-five years.
Zunckel's journey to becoming a writer was not a straightforward one. After being retrenched from his job in Air Traffic Control, he tried his hand at various ventures, including running a guest farm and organizing events and seminars for people with issues such as teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, low self-esteem, and involvement in gangs. It was only when his wife, Lucie, suggested that he try writing his story that he discovered his passion for writing. With her support and encouragement, he wrote his debut novel, "Blood Moon over Africa," and has since dedicated himself to full-time writing, focusing on stories that explore the mysteries, superstitions, beauty, and treachery of the African continent.
Zunckel is a dedicated writer who takes his craft seriously. He holds a diploma in Human Resource Management and is an accredited Facilitator. He has two children from a previous marriage and is currently married to Lucie, who played a crucial role in encouraging him to become a writer. Zunckel now writes under the name P.Zuncks, as there is already another author with the same name. Despite this change, his African Adventures series remains popular among readers who enjoy his thrilling and suspenseful storytelling. When he is not writing, Zunckel enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with his family, including his cross Alsatian/Lab named Pooch, who keeps him company while he writes.
