Pete Hautman is a National Book Award-winning American author, well-known for his works in the young adult, mystery, thriller, and middle-grade genres. He has written numerous book series, such as The Klaatu Diskos series, Denn Doyle series, Joe Crow series, Bloodwater Mysteries, and Flinkwater series. Hautman has also received critical acclaim for his standalone books aimed at both adults and teenagers.
Among Hautman's notable works are "Godless," which won the National Book Award, and other critically acclaimed novels like "Blank Confession," "All-In," "Rash," "No Limit," and "Invisible." He received an Edgar Award nomination from the Mystery Writers of America for his novel, "Mr. Was". Hautman's life has seen various stages, from his birth in Berkeley, California, to moving to St. Louis Park, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school. He attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the University of Minnesota but did not graduate from either. Before becoming an author, Hautman held several jobs, including sign painter, graphic artist, marketing executive, and pineapple slicer.
Hautman currently resides in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and Stockholm, Wisconsin, with his mystery writer and poet partner, Mary Logue. They share their home with two small dogs named Gaston and Baudelaire (Bodie). In his leisure time, Hautman enjoys his favorite color, clear, and mushrooms.
