Peter Brown Hoffmeister

Peter Brown Hoffmeister is an American author who has made a name for himself in the genres of Young Adult, Literature & Fiction, and Biographies & Memoirs. He is widely recognized for his novels, including "The Valley," "Let Them Be Eaten by Bears," and "The end Of Boys." Apart from his works being included in various "Best Of" lists by The American Library Association, VOYA, and Bank Street, Hoffmeister's novels have also received starred reviews from several prominent publications such as Booklist, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, VOYA, and The Bulletin.

Hoffmeister's life has been marked by a series of challenges that he has overcome, providing him with a wealth of experiences to draw upon in his writing. Expelled from three high schools, he lived for a short while in a Greyhound bus station and was remanded to a recovery and parole program. These experiences are vividly depicted in his 2011 memoir, "The End of Boys," which was published by Soft Skull Press. Despite his troubled past, Hoffmeister has emerged as a successful author, rock climber, public speaker, survival expert, and athlete gear-tester for Ridgemont Outfitters. He is also the founder and director of the Integrated Outdoor Program at South Eugene High School, where he inspires and mentors young people.

In addition to writing under his real name, Peter Brown Hoffmeister, he also writes under the pseudonym Pedro Hoffmeister. His latest novel, "American Afterlife," is a thriller published by Crooked Lane Books and distributed by Penguin Random House. Hoffmeister's writing has been translated into Chinese, German, and Italian, and he has served as the Writer-In-Residence at Joshua Tree National Park. He currently resides in Eugene, Oregon, with his wife and daughters.
