Peter Bunzl is a bestselling children's author who is well-known for his "The Cogheart Adventures" series of novels. Bunzl was raised in a sprawling Victorian house in South London, where he lived with his sister, two dogs, and three cats. His parents, an artist mother and an antique dealer father, encouraged his artistic and creative pursuits from a young age. As a child, he found inspiration during visits to the film and TV sets where his mother worked as a costume designer, including sets for "Postman Pat" and "James Bond."
After studying film and art in college, Bunzl worked in commercials, pop videos, and animation. He also wrote and directed two critically acclaimed short films before turning to writing. Bunzl's debut novel, "Cogheart," was published in 2016 and was nominated for several awards, including the Carnegie Medal, the Branford Boase Award, and the Children's Book Prize by Waterstones. His subsequent novels in the series, "Moonlocket" and "Shadowsea," have also been well-received and nominated for awards.
Bunzl's books have been translated into 16 languages and have sold nearly half-a-million copies worldwide. He has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Carnegie Medal, the Waterstones Book Prize, the Branford Boase Award, and the Books are My Bag Readers Award.
