Peter Rimmer is a historical fiction author who was born in London, England, and grew up in the south of the city. He attended Cranleigh School and later joined the Royal Air Force at the age of 18, becoming a Pilot Officer before he turned 19. After completing his National Service, Peter traveled to Africa with his older brother to grow tobacco in Rhodesia, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Once in Africa, Peter's career took a different turn when he founded an insurance brokering company, Rimmer Associates, in Johannesburg. The company quickly gained success, becoming a trusted partner for over 2% of the companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Peter's business acumen and passion for writing were intertwined throughout his books, making his stories all the more engaging.
In the 1990s, Peter's writing career took off with the publication of "Cry of the Fish Eagle" by HarperCollins, Zimbabwe. The book was a bestseller, and he followed it up with "Vultures in the Wind." However, due to the political instability in Zimbabwe at the time, his books did not receive the international recognition they deserved. Despite this, Peter continued to write and left behind a vast legacy of unpublished work for his family to release in the coming years.
Peter passed away in July 2018 at the age of 81, leaving behind a loyal following of readers who will miss him dearly. He lived a reclusive life on his smallholding in Knysna, South Africa, for over 25 years. His website, social media pages, and BookBub profile offer a glimpse into his life and work, providing a valuable resource for those interested in learning more about this remarkable author.
