Peter Robinson

Peter Robinson was an acclaimed author, best known for his crime fiction novels. He was born in Yorkshire, England, and gained his BA Honors Degree in English Literature from the University of Leeds. Later, he moved to Canada, where he completed his MA in English and Creative Writing at the University of Windsor and a PhD in English at York University. Robinson has had a successful teaching career, having taught at various community colleges and universities in Toronto. He also served as Writer-in-Residence at the University of Windsor from 1992-1993.

Robinson is renowned for his Inspector Alan Banks series, which has been translated into over fifteen different languages and adapted into several television shows. The series features DCI Alan Banks, who works in a fictional town outside of Yorkshire. While Robinson has written various short stories, novels, poems, and essays, his Inspector Alan Banks series has gained him the most recognition. His creative prowess has earned him numerous accolades, including the Ellis Award for Best Novel in 1992, 1997, and 2001, the Anthony Award for Best Novel in 2000, and the Barry Award for Best Novel in 2000.

In addition to the Inspector Alan Banks series, Robinson has written several standalone novels, including "Before the Poison," which won the IMBA's 2013 Dilys Award and the 2012 Arthur Ellis Award for Best Novel by the Crime Writers of Canada. Robinson's critically acclaimed DCI Banks novels have won numerous awards in Britain, the United States, Canada, and Europe and are published worldwide in translation. In 2020, Robinson was made a Grand Master by the Crime Writers of Canada.

Sadly, Peter Robinson passed away in 2022. He had divided his time between Richmond, UK, and Canada before his death. Robinson's legacy in the crime fiction genre is undeniable, and his works will continue to captivate readers worldwide.
