Phil Kurthausen

Phil Kurthausen is a British author known for his crime and thriller novels. His debut novel, "The Killing Pool," won the Thriller Round in the HarperCollins People’s Novelist Competition, broadcast on ITV in 2011, and was later shortlisted for the Dundee International Literary Prize in 2012. He followed this success with "The Silent Pool," which also claimed the Crime & Thriller section of the same competition. Both novels feature the Erasmus Jones series, which continued with "Sudden Death." Kurthausen expanded his repertoire with the standalone psychological thriller "Don’t Let Me In" in 2018.

Before pursuing writing full-time, Kurthausen worked in diverse roles, including as a lawyer, flower salesman, and light bulb repair technician - even overcoming his fear of heights to paint the Sydney Harbour Bridge. His eclectic experiences inform his sharp, suspenseful storytelling. His short stories have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra and earned critical acclaim, showcasing his versatility across genres.

Kurthausen resides in Barcelona with his wife and their cat, humorously noted to bear no resemblance to the fictional feline in "Don’t Let Me In." His works reflect a blend of dark humor and gripping tension, cementing his reputation as a compelling voice in contemporary crime fiction.
