Philippa Gregory

Philippa Gregory is a renowned British novelist, celebrated for her captivating historical fiction. She has been writing since 1987 and has produced a wide range of novels, with a particular focus on the Tudor era. Gregory's work has been widely read and appreciated, with her novel "The Other Boleyn Girl" earning her the Romantic Novel of the Year Award from the Romantic Novelists’ Association in 1987.

Gregory's writing journey began while she was completing her PhD in eighteenth-century literature. Her first novel, "Wideacre," was published and became an international success, paving the way for a new era in historical fiction. Gregory's unique storytelling style, which combines history and imagination, has become her signature, leading to the creation of many bestselling novels, including "The Other Boleyn Girl" and "The White Queen".

In addition to her writing, Gregory is recognized as an authority on women's history. She holds degrees from the University of Sussex and the University of Edinburgh, where she is a Regent and was made Alumna of the Year in 2009. Gregory is also a fellow of the Universities of Sussex and Cardiff and an honorary research fellow at Birkbeck University of London. In 2016, she received the Outstanding Contribution to Historical Fiction Award from the Historical Writers’ Association, and in 2018, she was awarded an Honorary Platinum Award by Nielsen for her significant lifetime sales.
