Piero Martin is an experimental physicist specializing in plasma physics and its energy applications, particularly magnetic confinement fusion. Born in 1962, he graduated from the University of Padua in 1986 and later worked as a researcher at the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority in Culham-Oxfordshire. Since 1992, he has been a researcher and professor at the University of Padua, where he focuses on advancing fusion energy research.
Martin holds significant leadership roles in the field, including heading the European "Topical Group" on magnetohydrodynamic stability under EFDA, the agency coordinating fusion research across Europe. He also serves as coordinator for the "Implementing Agreement on RFP" under the International Energy Agency (IEA). His contributions have earned him memberships in prestigious organizations such as the European Physical Society and the American Physical Society.
