Plum Sykes

Plum Sykes is an English novelist and fashion journalist best known for her bestselling chick lit novels, including "Bergdorf Blondes" and "The Debutante Divorcée." Her debut novel, "Bergdorf Blondes," published in 2004, spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List and became an international success. Sykes followed this with "The Debutante Divorcée" in 2006, further cementing her reputation for witty, glamorous portrayals of New York high society. Her works, often compared to "Sex and the City," blend humor and sharp social commentary, drawing from her insider perspective on fashion and elite circles.

Born in London in 1969, Sykes studied Modern History at Oxford University before launching her career in journalism. She began as an intern at British Vogue and later became a contributing editor for American Vogue under Anna Wintour, covering fashion and society. Her transition to fiction writing showcased her keen eye for the absurdities of privileged lifestyles. In addition to her novels, Sykes has written teleplays and screenplays while maintaining her role as a contributing editor at American Vogue.

Sykes expanded her literary repertoire with "Party Girls Die in Pearls" in 2016 and the satirical "Wives Like Us," published in 2024, which explores the lives of affluent women in the English countryside. Beyond her professional achievements, she has been candid about her personal struggles with anxiety and agoraphobia, detailing her recovery in a 2012 Vogue article. Sykes resides in England with her husband and two children, balancing her writing career with her longstanding contributions to fashion journalism.
