Rachel Joyce

Rachel Joyce is a highly acclaimed British novelist, best known for her "Harold Fry" series of novels. Prior to her career as an author, Joyce worked in the British acting industry for twenty years, performing in leading roles for several internationally recognized companies such as the Royal National Theater and the RSC. She made the transition to writing after her acting career, during which she won the Tinniswood Award for best radio play in 2007.

Joyce's debut novel, "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry," was first published in 2012 and quickly gained commercial success. It became an international and Sunday Times bestselling novel, making the shortlist for the Commonwealth Book Prize and the Man Booker Prize longlist. In 2012, Joyce won the New Writer of the Year Award at the Specsavers National Book Awards. She has since written a collection of short stories and several more well-received novels. Outside of novel writing, Joyce has written over 20 original radio dramas and plays for BBC Radio 4 and has also worked on major adaptations for the Classic Series, Woman's Hour, and BBC 2.

Rachel Joyce's novels have been translated into thirty-six languages and have sold over 5 million copies worldwide. Two of her books are currently in development for film. She lives with her family in Cotswolds. Joyce has also written over twenty original afternoon plays and adaptations of classics for BBC Radio 4, including all the Bronte novels.
