Rachel Khong is an accomplished American author, known for her contemporary fiction novels and non-fiction books. She earned degrees from Yale University and the University of Florida, and has worked as a managing and executive editor for Lucky Peach magazine for five years. Khong's writing has been featured in various publications such as Joyland, American Short Fiction, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Believer, and California Sunday. She currently resides in San Francisco, California.
Rachel Khong gained significant recognition in the publishing world with her novel 'Goodbye, Vitamin', which was released in 2017. The book was a huge success and won the California Book Award for First Fiction, in addition to being named a best book of the year by NPR, O, The Oprah Magazine, Vogue, and Esquire. Khong's work has been published in several prestigious publications, including The New York Times Book Review, The Cut, The Guardian, The Paris Review, and Tin House.
In 2018, Rachel Khong established the Ruby, a work and event space in San Francisco's Mission District, specifically designed for women and nonbinary writers and artists. Khong was born in Malaysia and has since made California her home.
