Rachel Lyon

Rachel Lyon is the author of two critically acclaimed novels, "Self-Portrait with Boy" and "Fruit of the Dead." Her debut, "Self-Portrait with Boy," was a finalist for the Center for Fiction's 2018 First Novel Prize, while her second novel, "Fruit of the Dead," earned praise from The New York Times and was named one of Oprah Magazine's best books of 2024. Lyon's short fiction has appeared in prominent literary publications such as One Story, The Rumpus, and Electric Literature's Recommended Reading.

A dedicated educator, Lyon has taught creative writing at Bennington College and served as the 2024 Paris Writer in Residence at the American University of Paris. She is also a cofounder of Ditmas Lit and The Dream Away Reading Series, initiatives that support literary community and engagement. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Lyon now resides in Western Massachusetts with her family. Her work explores complex emotional and psychological landscapes, marked by sharp prose and immersive storytelling.
