Rachel Wesson is an Irish author, best known for her Heart of the Rails book series. She was born in Kilkenny, Ireland but considers herself to be from Dublin, where she spent most of her life. Wesson's love for literature and storytelling developed at a young age, thanks to her father who would take her and her two sisters to the library every Saturday. She spent hours choosing books, much to her sisters' frustration. Wesson's inquisitive nature also led her to ask her relatives numerous questions about their experiences during the war and the 1916 rising. Her grandmother eventually told her to write her stories down, hoping it would give her family some peace.
Wesson's writing career took off after she moved to London, following a doomed love affair and an unpleasant bank raid. She had no intention of staying in London, but a chance encounter with the man of her dreams changed her plans. Before becoming an author, Wesson worked in the city for most of her career. However, she decided to pursue writing full-time after realizing that raising three children while working in the city was not ideal. Wesson's writing turned into a successful career, and she now lives in Surrey with her husband and three children. When she's not writing or spending time with her family, Wesson enjoys traveling back to Ireland. She has a particular fondness for watching films and reading books for research purposes. Wesson's love for history is evident in her writing, as seen in her latest series based on the Orphan Trains. She continues to combine her passion for history with her storytelling abilities, creating engaging and informative books for her readers.
