Ralph McInerny

The series features Father Dowling as the main character, who was also the basis for the television show titled "Father Dowling Mysteries," which aired from 1987-1991. McInerny's use of different pseudonyms, such as Harry Austin, Matthew FitzRalph, Ernan Mackey, Edward Mackin, and Monica Quill, showcases his versatility as a writer and his ability to create distinct voices and styles for his different works.

In addition to his work as a fiction writer, McInerny was also a respected religious scholar. He was a prominent Catholic intellectual and a leading authority on the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas.
