Raven Dane is a distinguished author from the United Kingdom, who has made a name for herself in the genres of dark fantasy, horror, alternative history, and steampunk. She first gained recognition with her well-received Legacy of the Dark Kind series, which includes the books Blood Tears, Blood Lament, and Blood Alliance. This series showcases her ability to create dark and compelling worlds that captivate readers.
After the success of her initial series, Dane ventured into a different genre with a humorous take on high fantasy, The Unwise Woman of Fuggis Mire. She also gained success in the steampunk genre with the novel Cyrus Darian and the Technomicron, which won the Victorian Steampunk Society Best Novel Award in 2012. Dane has also contributed to various anthologies, including the Gruesome Grotesques anthologies and Phantasmagoria Magazine.
Dane's work has been featured in several international horror anthologies alongside notable authors such as Richard Chizmar, Ramsey Campbell, Tim Lebbon, and Jack Ketchum. Her story in Billie Sue Mosiman’s Frightmare –Women Write Horror was shortlisted for a prestigious Bram Stoker award in 2016. She has also appeared on two international lists of best female horror writers.
In addition to her work in the horror and fantasy genres, Dane is a lifelong fan of Dr. Who and was delighted to be part of the script team on a spin-off film, The Daemons of Devil’s End by Reeltime Pictures in 2017. She also contributed to the novelisation of the film. Dane is currently working on a dark fantasy novel, The Arcane and a prequel to her Legacy of the Dark Kind series, entitled The Blood of Kings. She also has a novella set in a chaotic, dystopian distant future published in November 2019, House of Wrax with Demain Publishing.
