Raymond Buckland

Raymond Buckland is a well-known author in the field of paranormal religion and spirituality. He was born in London in 1934 and moved to Nottingham with his family during the Second World War. It was during his formative years in school that Buckland developed a passion for acting and theater, a passion that he would pursue throughout his life. Additionally, Buckland was introduced to the occult and spiritualism at a young age by his uncle, who was a practicing spiritualist.

Buckland is often referred to as "The Father of American Wicca" due to his significant contributions to the religion in the United States. He was responsible for introducing Wicca to the country and wrote the first American book on the Old Religion from a witch's perspective, "WITCHCRAFT FROM THE INSIDE." Since then, Buckland has written nearly sixty other books on the subject, including the classic "BUCKLAND'S COMPLETE BOOK OF WITCHCRAFT" and the three encyclopedias: "THE WITCH BOOK," "THE FORTUNETELLING BOOK," and "THE SPIRIT BOOK."

Buckland moved to the United States in 1962 and had over fifty books published in the fields of fiction and non-fiction, with nearly two million copies in print and translated into seventeen foreign languages. He received awards for his work and had books featured in several national book clubs. Buckland was also involved in the film industry, working as a Technical Director for movies and appearing on national television and radio talk shows. He was also an authority on Gypsies and wrote several books on them. Buckland taught courses at colleges and universities, and was featured in numerous newspapers, magazines, and reference works. He is currently living on a farm in north-central Ohio.
