Raymond E. Feist is a successful American author, well-known for his fantasy novels. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1945, and went on to attend the University of California at San Diego, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts. Feist was originally born as Raymond E. Gonzales III but later took on his step-father's surname, Felix E. Feist, when his mother remarried.
Feist's love for writing began during his time at the University of California, where he first conceived the idea for his novel about a young boy who would become a magician. After graduation, Feist tried to find time to write the novel while working, but it wasn't until two years later, in 1982, that he was able to complete it after finding himself out of a job. The novel, titled 'Magician', was eventually published in 1982 by Doubleday.
Feist's novels have been incredibly successful, selling over 15 million copies worldwide. He is best known for his Riftwar series, which includes several books such as 'Flight of the Nighthawks', 'Talon of the Silver Hawk', 'King of Foxes', 'Exile's Return', 'Shadow of a Dark Queen', 'Rise of a Merchant Prince', 'Rage of a Demon King', 'Shards of a Broken Crown', 'Krondor: The Betrayal', 'Krondor: The Assassins', and 'Krondor: Tear of the Gods', among others.
In addition to his love for writing, Feist has a variety of personal interests, including collecting fine wine, DVDs, and non-fiction books. He is also a fan of American Professional Football and has a particular interest in history, biographies, and the history of American Professional Football. Feist currently resides in San Diego, California, with his children, where he continues to write and pursue his various interests.
