Rebecca Roanhorse

Rebecca Roanhorse is an accomplished American author, best known for her works in speculative fiction. She has received numerous accolades for her writing, including the Nebula and Hugo Awards, as well as the 2018 Campbell Award for Best New Writer. Roanhorse's fiction is largely influenced by her heritage, as she often writes about Native American characters and incorporates elements of their culture into her stories.

Roanhorse was born in Conway, Arkansas in 1971, and spent her childhood in Fort Worth, Texas. She comes from a unique background, being of African-American and Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo heritage. This cultural diversity has no doubt contributed to the rich and varied worlds she creates in her writing. Roanhorse is now a proud mother and wife, and when she is not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Roanhorse's range of work is impressive, including a book series called The Sixth World, several standalone novels, and a number of short stories. Her debut novel, Trail of Lightning, was listed as one of the best books of 2018 by many publications. She has also contributed to the Star Wars franchise, writing the novel Star Wars: Resistance Reborn. Roanhorse's novel, Black Sun, was released in October 2020. In addition to her writing, Roanhorse is also a NYTimes Bestseller and a Locus Award-winner. She currently resides in Northern New Mexico with her husband, daughter, and pug.
