Rebecca Winters is an accomplished American author, born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1940. She is best known for her romance novels, which have been recognized on multiple occasions. Winters grew up in Utah and developed a love for languages at a young age. She had the opportunity to attend boarding school in Lausanne, Switzerland when she was 17, where she learned to speak French and met girls from all over the world.
After returning to the U.S., Winters pursued her love of languages by earning a B.A. in secondary education, history, French, and Spanish from the University of Utah. She also did postgraduate work in Arabic. Winters' studies overseas led her to become a teacher, and she has been teaching junior-high and high-school French and history for the past 15 years. She got into serious writing almost by accident, after writing letters to her parents while she was away at boarding school and being encouraged by her mother to write her memories from them for posterity.
Winters wrote her first novel, "The Loving Season", in 1979, which was published under the name Rebecca Burton. The novel, which takes place in Switzerland and France, was the seed that eventually led to her love affair with writing. She has since written over 40 novels for Harlequin, including "By Love Divided", a World War II romance, and "Blind to Love", a story that takes place in Kenya. Winters' talents have been recognized with several awards, including the National Readers' Choice Award, the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award, and being named Utah Writer of the Year. She is currently working on her 50th novel for Harlequin.
