Rob Lloyd Jones is a children’s author who was born in San Francisco but grew up in London. He has a deep interest in history, particularly Egyptology, which led him to study the subject at university. During his time there, he learned hieroglyphics and began going on digs with the Egypt Exploration Society. His love for history is reflected in his work, as he has written over thirty books for Usborne, most of which are historical non-fiction.
In addition to his non-fiction work, Lloyd Jones has also adapted classics such as Jekyll and Hyde and The Count of Monte Cristo. He is a senior editor at Usborne and has written episodes of the children’s TV show Bernard’s Watch for Carlton Kids. Lloyd Jones is also a dedicated volunteer, serving as a reading helper at a primary school in Clerkenwell.
As a successful author, Lloyd Jones has won several awards for his work, including the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize. His debut novel, Wild Boy, was named one of the five best books of the year in the prestigious Branford Boase Award. He has written picture books, fairy tales, and books with flaps, among other things.
Lloyd Jones’s latest novel, Me, My Brother and the Monster Meltdown, was co-written with his two sons and is based on an idea one of them had around the dinner table. He is proud of the book, which he considers to be his best work yet, with its best parts credited to his sons’ contributions. Readers are encouraged to explore his Amazon page and get in touch with him through his website.
